It is clear that through astral projection we can do many things. We can speak with friends and family that are living, we can connect with beings that are long dead, we can connect with our spirit or animal guides, beings from other dimensions, or we can just fly around and see the world and the Universe.
Before we go into techniques it is important for us to know the difference between normal sleep and astral projection. When we sleep, our soul leaves our body. Literally it leaves our 3D physical reality. The thing is, we do not have control over what our soul does when it leaves our body while we sleep because our subconscious controls it. When we astral project, we are able to consciously control our soul, and where it goes. So, the astral projection is basically just Conscious Sleep. We also should be aware that there are hundreds or thousands different techniques to get our soul out of body. We are all unique. We should also understand that if one technique works for some people, for others it may not.
These techniques about the separation of the body which we will explain further are very simple and straight forward.
This technique is very simple and usually it is for those who have good imagination. First you have to relax your body. This is a very important step.
Sit or lie down and take your mind for a walk. Imagine that you are taking a walk somewhere no matter if the place is familiar or not familiar just follow your imagination not only mentally but energetically as well and focus on all the details if possible. Some people are even counting their steps and suddenly they are found in their astral body. To identify if you are close to the separation from your physical body in your astral body, the symptoms like hearing voices, buzzing noises, vibrations and rapid heartbeats can be observed. The astral projection may happen in the darkness as well. And you can do this method by focusing on the darkness behind your closed eyes. Stare and stay focused in the darkness until light patterns start to form. When light patterns start to form shapes then probably you are about to enter in the state of lucid dreaming which makes your astral body capable of traveling away from your physical body.
This technique starts also with relaxing your physical body and finding some comfortable position same as many people do before going into meditation. Then close your eyes and think about floating. Focus on your feeling of floating and stay in it. Pay close attention to all your bodily sensations, feel yourself floating and try to make the experience as real as possible. Even at the beginning you will need some effort to stay in this feeling then after making more practices will became very natural for you to go into that state again. As we practicing any of these techniques and we become more mature in our experience of it, our astral body will be prepared to go on in deeper levels.
First be clear with yourself and tell to yourself if sleep happens you are going to watch yourself in the act of going to sleep. The next step is to increase vibrations throughout your body and intensify them. We all have heard the story about the word used by magicians Abracadabra which means “I create as I speak.” So you’ll be your own magician and start using phrases about what you want to experience. Example: ‘’I am going to have an out of body experience now. ‘’ ’’I move from my body now’’ or ‘’I awake my astral body now’’ You are free to use any phrase you like and then repeated it out loud or in your mind. It’s up to you to find the way which you will feel comfortable. Probably you have heard about chanting which is the spiritual practice which is rhythmic speaking or singing of words or sounds. When we do these kinds of techniques it is not only the words that matter but the vibration which is beyond them that carries such strong power because everything in the universe is pulsating and vibrating!
There also is a popular technique called:
A rope technique
Lay down and you can use now your imagination with your senses and feelings. Imagine that you are pulling yourself up with a rope. Use your nonphysical arms to pull yourself up out of your body up to the sky and feel yourself coming free of your body. You will exit your body in the direction of your imaginary ROPE and you just pull yourself, hand over hand, up the strong, invisible, imaginary ROPE hanging above you. Keep climbing, upwards, and you will feel the vibrations start. Your whole body will seem to be vibrating. Just keep trying and suddenly you will awake in your astral body.
Whichever technique you choose, you are unlikely to get a result on the very first night, or even on the first few nights which is quite normal. So take your time, don’t force anything and try not to get frustrated when nothing happens at first. There could be mental or physical blockages preventing you from getting out of body. But if your interest is strong and fully alive in you, you will come to the real experience of it.
The great Mystic Osho explains about the astral experiences:
Someone has asked him: Sometimes when I go to sleep and I lie on my back, I can feel something moving in my body. It’s not my body…it feels like energy. And he answered: it is energy—so help it to move, and don’t stop it. Wherever it goes, you simply follow. Simply become the shadow and let it become the real; it is your real energy.
He has said: The third body is the astral body. It has its own tensions. They are concerned not only with this life but with your previous lives. Tension in the third body is because of the accumulation of everything you have been and of everything you have been longing for. Your total longing, thousands and thousands of lives and their repetitive longings, are in the astral body. And you have always been longing! It does not matter for what. The longing is there.
When you die, your physical body and your physical mind are left behind. But the astral body travels with you, with the mind, with all the remembrances of the past life and the body, remembering all the scars and the wounds that have happened to the physical body. This disappearance is not your death. This disappearance makes you one with the whole.
