Many people that have experienced a Lucid dream are not able to remember it when they wake up in the morning. This represents a big problem sometimes, because the person is confused, if the situation was real or it was only a dream.
Some researches prove that when we wake up after 5 minutes we forget 50% of the dream that we had that night, after 10 minutes we don’t remember 90% of the dream. Because of this, it is very important to try to remember the dream while we are in bed. The first 15 minutes while we are still laying we need to recall every detail about the dream, later we need to get up and write down everything that comes us up to mind so we won’t miss the main point of the dream.
Sometimes we can encounter repressed thoughts and wishes floating through the content of the dream. We have a lot to learn about ourselves from our dreams, that’s why some people keep dream journals. Because this type of people want to ‘catch’ the main moment in their dream, they propose to use more frequently the technique of waking up in the middle of the REM phase of sleeping – the most common moment when dreams can happen.

There are some techniques that can be used when we want to recall our dreams.

We can write down linking words or some specific signs that were present in the dream, so the sense of the dream won’t be lost.
You can have control over your physical state when you make a self – suggestion that you will remember the dream this night. Sometimes the position in which you are sleeping can be very important, if you notice that you can have influence on the dream recall you need to keep the same position every night.
Sometimes is good to regulate the sleeping time: to wake up or go to sleep in the same time every night.
We can wake up more frequently but slowly. Take more time to get back in the reality. In this way you will notice the differences between the dream and the real situation. You can make your alarm ring on every hour or half an hour so you will be able to wake up in the middle of the REM phase, exactly at the moment when you are dreaming.
Having objects in different colors near your bed or wearing pajamas that remind you of something familiar that you encounter more often in your dream can help you to recall your dream and to reveal the meaning.
You can become a member of a dream group, so you will have a chance to share your experience with other people and hear their stories. Sometimes you can get some help with the techniques of dream recall or with the meaning of some signs that you have noticed in your dreams.
